Once a year, Vienna State Opera turns into the world’s most beautiful and elegant ball room for the Vienna Opera Ball: a glamorous gala of unique splendour and allure, the ball of all balls. Having been described in German as ‘Ein Spiegel der Österreichischen Seele‘ (‘A Mirror of the Austrian Soul’), the Vienna Opera Ball is a special, somewhat magical society event held annually in the Vienna Opera House, as part of the Viennese carnival season. Vienna Opera Ball tickets are together with New Year’s Concert 2019 tickets invariably in high demand but you can secure them here at ProvidingTickets! _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The venue of the ball may rightly be described as historic as it was, among others, in the Vienna Opera House where the European leaders of the early nineteenth century met during the so-called Congress of Nations, a meeting designed to put an end to the Napoleonic Wars.
Standing in a long tradition of Vienna balls, the Vienna Opera Ball is arguably the equivalent of the British BAFTAs and stands out as the absolute highlight in the Austrian social calendar. One of the reasons why Vienna Ball tickets are so popular, for example, is the fact that the event is, without exception, graced by the presence of world-famous celebrities: people such as actress Hilary Swank and socialite Kim Kardashian are known to have attended.
The glamorous Vienna Opera Ball traditionally starts off with an opening Waltz – which is rehearsed for weeks but lasts a mere 4 minutes – danced by 186 debutantes accompanied by their partners. Being a rite of passage of sorts, this Waltz is a defining moment in the lives of these young women who are introduced into Vienna’s society this way while being watched by millions across the world. In most European countries, these traditions are long gone but they are still very much alive in Vienna!
